Here’s the story:

The Alston Overlook is the highest point in the garden campus, offering simultaneous vistas of the finely clipped parterre garden and views of the midtown Atlanta skyline. The trellis (built) and event pavilion (unbuilt) frame a special place without limiting view across the garden and Atlanta.

The Cascades Garden Trellis curves its embrace around the lowest pool of water cascading down from the hill above. The Earth Goddess, a dynamic planted sculpture, keeps watch and provides sheltering calm for garden guests. The overhead trellis dramatically cantilevers above the water’s edge, creating light, shade and enclosure.

The Canopy Classroom (unbuilt) is a personal favorite. The classroom space hovers in that special space “in-between” the earthbound world below and aerial tree canopy above. Sited at the shadowy edges as the dark woodland transitions to a sunny glade, the classroom frames a unique middle school experience of learning about worlds so near, yet so different than our own.
