Day Butterfly Center Expansion - Callaway Gardens
| | |
As Callaway's most popular attraction since its completion in the 1980's, the Butterfly House required significant renovation and expansion due to its overwhelming success with visitors and to comply with more stringent USDA regulations. Guest circulation was enlarged and improved to address overwhelming crowds, the orientation area was increased in size, the retail (a significant revenue generator for the entire garden) was tripled in area and the containment room (where butterfly shipments are received and handled before release within the conservatory), is now located within the building. The conservatory walking areas were also expanded and provisions made for adding an exotic bird exhibit to complement the butterflies.
The building has been LEED certified at the basic level. Mr. Robinson's involvement in this project, while employed at Jova/Daniels/Busby, was as project manager and lead designer.
